Neocaridina FAQ
Are Neocaridina the same as cherry shrimp?
Yes. Red cherry shrimp are one color of Neocaridina davidi. Blue Dream, Orange Sunkist, Yellow 24K, Green Jade and Bloody Mary are the same species in different line-bred colors.
Can Neocaridina live in tap water?
Yes. Dechlorinated tap water in the ranges above works well.
Can I mix colors in one tank?
You can, but the colors interbreed and offspring drift toward wild-type brown. Keep one color per tank for babies that match their parents.
How many should I buy?
Ten is a good starting group for a small tank: a healthy mix of males and females.
Can I keep Neocaridina with fish?
Only small, peaceful ones. Our nano fish, like Galaxy Rasboras and Otocinclus, are shrimp-safe. Dense plants give shrimplets cover.
